Dear Diary ...

source

So something really cool happened last week ... I was going through some boxes of my old stuff (my mom recently moved) and found an old diary that I kept from age 10 to 13!  Even more awesome is that I had completely forgotten about this diary. I have been reading through it with my boyfriend and we both find it hilarious! I feel like I have completely forgotten what it's like to be a tween and am ever so thankful to be able to read through it and get a glimpse of what I was like at that age. I can say that yes I was completely boy crazy. I am also struck by how mean girls are at those ages and am happy to say that I did not completely lack insight at that stage.

I have kept several journals throughout the years which I have not forgotten about. I find it really hard to keep a journal since I am getting more and more busy as the years go by. It sometimes feels like a chore to write in one so I just don't. I wonder if kids these days still keep a diary??? With facebook, twitter etc. it seems unlikely that they would. I guess one of the reasons I am drawn to blogging is that it's basically another outlet for documenting my thoughts, desires and the events in my life.

Do you keep a journal?

haha, I guess blogging in a way is my kind of diary. :) And little posts on tumblr, too! But yeah, that's so awesome that you found and went through your old diaries, how fun! I still have mine in my nightstand and they're quite fun to page through every now and then (though they are silly, too :D)

I don't have one. Although I always loved the idea of it.

Wwe have our mom's diary from when she was 13 and it's pretty much the funniest thing ever. There's all these great parts such as how she's decided not to like any more boys for the next 6 months. The best part is the entry about how 13 year old David Naylor (current U of T president) suggested she come to his party naked!

Lol Kristin! I think I recall Seanna mentioning about your mom's diary. What a great read it must be. I can imagine! AND David Naylor!?!

I got into some trouble my junior year of high school and part of my therapy was to keep journals. I religiously kept them from junior year until now (23). All through college too. They're so interesting to go back and read through. Each one has it's own voice. I wrote differently all the time, it's so funny! I've become more forgetful to jot things down on paper now with my new blog and FB, Twitter etc. But I keep trying!
