Weekender

I'm so glad it's Friday!! I have worked super hard all week and I have today off. Check out the lovely peonies I enjoyed while working at my desk this past week. So delicate and fluffy. Flowers make me so happy :)

My wedding dress has come in so one of my bridesmaids and I are going in to inspect it tomorrow afternoon. I'll also be trying on some veils and jewellery. Super excited and can't wait to fill you in on our bridesmaid dress shopping experience and our tasting last weekend.

Happy Friday!

Carpet of Flowers

This past Sunday was a lovely day to get outside to enjoy the sun. Check out this carpet of blue/purple flowers my mom and I spotted when out for a drive. I've never seen anything like this before and felt like I was in a fairytale!

Weekender....

Another weekend has come and gone! Here are some pics of what I was up to ...

Making use of my Friday off work to run some errands.
Rainy but it didn't bother me...

We got our new Kitchen Aid blender and both love it!
We make smoothies almost daily and it's such an upgrade from
the Magic Bullet.

I found my perfect cake stand!

Eating a patacon for the first time...thanks to my brother
who took out the fam for some Venezuelan food :)

Popped by Avenue and Davenport for some spring flowers.

I hope you all had an easy Monday back at work. I had a busy but good day and enjoyed my morning walk to work. I'm hoping for no rain tomorrow.

This weeks flowers...

This weeks flowers are these lovely deep blue and green daisies. They were a lovely centrepiece for last night's dinner. I can't wait to put them on my desk at work tomorrow (although I don't actually want to go to work). I hope everyone is having a lovely long weekend. I'll be back tomorrow with a post about my weekend :)

Neon

I never thought I would love neon flowers but here they are sitting on my desk at work. They make me happy, make my office a little more fun and even better is that they last almost a month. I am loving my new spray painted crysthanamums!

Peonies

Yesterday I bought some peonies and was really excited to see them open up. Well, that didn't take too long. They opened up over night into these full, beautiful flowers that (for me) resemble feathers. I hope they last. They are kinda expensive but regardless they make me smile :)

Orchid

I love flowers. My favourite is the orchid. I love how the flowers extend from one branch and find all varieties interesting to look at. I also love the texture of the petals and the fact that they look like they've been painted with sparkles. Unfortunately, I have not had the best luck keeping orchids. I had two orchids last year but they did not survive. I think I gave them too much love and over-watered them. I may or may not have also kept the temperature in my home too high this past winter. Either way they are gone and now I have a fake orchid sitting on my kitchen island.

What's your favourite flower? Any tips for taking care of orchids?

Weekender

As far as I'm concerned, the best Saturdays are spent outdoors. I love getting out for a long bike ride on Saturdays and am going to try to do this most weekends this spring/summer as long as the weather cooperates. Yesterday the bf and I decided to enjoy the somewhat warm Toronto weather and headed out for a long bike ride along the waterfront to High Park. We wanted to get outdoors and see the cherry blossoms in the park. Here are some things I saw:
rowing practice
lots of water and seagulls
First soft serve this year. Worth the 10 min. wait in line
dogs swimming
beautiful cherry blossoms
So many people came out to adore these trees.
It was like a sea of white flowers.
Unfortunately the High Park Zoo has lost funding and is set to
close down this June. This is really sad because it's a free and accessible
activity for children and families. It was also the first zoo to open
in Canada (in 1893).  You can donate here.
I enjoy watching the bison
Happy Sunday!
